12th Annual "Nick Vincent Memorial" mite Jamboree

The 12th annual "Nick Vincent Memorial" Mite jamboree will be held March 1st & 2nd, 2008 at the Hippodrome in Eveleth. This mite level jamboree is for the kids of the ages of 7-8 years old. There are 12 teams participating in this year's jamboree which include Eveleth (2), Virginia (2), Mesabi East (2), Hibbing (4), Ely, and Esko.  So a lot of great hockey will be played.

This jamboree is being held in memory of a very special hockey player named Nick Vincent. Nick was a goalie for the Eveleth Maroon Mite team when he was diagnosed with leukemia. Although, Nick couldn't play the remainder of the season his love for the game showed in his continued support for his team and teammates. In July 1995, Nick lost his fight against leukemia, but his memory continues to live on with this mite jamboree.

At Nick's burial, with the idea from a child to honor Nick the Vincent family provided balloons for all children to release into the air to honor Nick's memory. We would like to re-create this with a balloon lift-off on the front steps of the Hipp at 1:30 on Sunday March 2nd, 2008. We invite all players, friends, and family to come and release a balloon in the memory of Nick.

All proceeds from the jamboree go to the Children's Cancer Fund in Nick's name. There will be coffee cans distributed throughout the Hipp to drop donations in to help support this fund. There will also be numerous raffles with many great items to be raffled off.

The Vincent Family which consist of Nicks dad Dean, his Mother Bonnie, his Sister Jessica, 30, who lives in Pine River with her Husband Ross Havercamp and Daughter Megan 7 ½ years old, and Brother Erik, 16, who's a member of our Varsity Hockey team, and yes he's also a goalie like his big brother, they would like to thank everyone who over the years has kept Nicks memory alive by putting on the Jamboree. To the Vincent family the jamboree has gone from an emotional weekend to one of remembrance and happiness. Although, it's still a very emotional weekend for them, the jamboree gives them plenty of pleasure in knowing that
money is being raised for kids and their families in need.

One of Nicks Fathers favorite things to see is when their somewhere else outside of Eveleth and they see a young person wearing a Nick Vincent Jamboree
sweatshirt.
